According to an announcement by Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy, Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Lithuanian airline GetJet plans to begin operations in Georgia by providing various charter connections between the Baltic nations and the country.
According to the Economy Ministry, Kvrivishvili said that the Baltic nations had been one of the main tourist markets for Georgia. He also mentioned that the Georgian government “actively worked” to enhance awareness of the country’s tourism potential in the Baltic states.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that “an increased” number of direct flights to the “main cities” of the region would bring more visitors to Georgia. The Deputy Minister also stated that it had been the priority of the country to have more direct links with countries that are members of the European Union.
Getjet will operate several charter flights on Mondays between Vilnius and Batumi from the first of August through the last day. These flights will also depart from Tallinn to Batumi on the 15th through the last day of August.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia said that the number of tourists coming from the Baltic states during the first three months of 2022 had climbed by 347 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. There were 294.6 percent more visitors from Lithuania, 375.4 percent more visitors from Latvia, and 438.1 percent more visitors from Estonia.
